“The Debrief with Jon Becker” Announces Launch of Season Five

The Debrief

“The Debrief with Jon Becker,” the acclaimed podcast that takes an in-depth look at incidents, practices, and lessons learned of elite tactical units, announces the launch of its highly anticipated fifth season. Featured episodes this season include critical incident reviews of the Greater Victoria ERT Police Ambush, the Pittsburgh Tree of Life Synagogue shooting, and the Uvalde school shooting, among others.

This season will also include the well-received Decision-Making Exercises (DMEs) that began in Season 4, allowing Debrief listeners and teams to run tabletop exercises based on the current episode.  Created by the California Association of Tactical Officers (CATO), these DMEs utilize a three-step exercise to place the listener into the shoes of responding officers and allow them to consider how they would have approached the situation.

Speaking about the new season, The Debrief host Jon Becker said, “We are excited to launch Season 5 and share the stories from some of our most awaited episodes.  We remain so grateful to our audience and all the comments that we continue to get in support of the episodes and guests. We have been working on some of the episodes this season for a while and can’t wait to finally share them with you all.  We also remain grateful to CATO for their contribution of the DMEs which help prepare our listeners to respond to similar incidents.”

The first episode of the season will debut Tuesday, January 14th, with the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, which will include a DME episode.  Speaking with GVERT on this bank robbery & police ambush, we will also be launching a special episode Thursday, January 16th detailing the lessons learned by the agency.  Episodes will continue to drop every 2 weeks.
