The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has released its Public Venue Security Resources Guide, a 2026 publication designed to help venue managers strengthen security and resilience against evolving physical and cyber threats. The guide addresses facilities which routinely attract large crowds, including stadiums, arenas, convention centers, theaters, fairgrounds, festivals, museums, zoos, libraries, and other public gathering locations.
The guide brings together federal resources covering risk management; suspicious behavior; emergency planning; active assailant preparedness; vehicle ramming threats; cybersecurity; unmanned aircraft systems (drones); and coordination with federal, state and local partners.
Among the resources highlighted are CISA’s Mass Gathering Security Planning Tool, Security Planning Workbook, Vehicle Ramming Self-Assessment Tool, active assailant emergency planning materials, Incident Management Review training, and more than 100 available tabletop exercise packages.
Separate sections address cybersecurity threats and mitigation, suspicious drone activity and UAS detection, as well as security considerations specifically for houses of worship.
